Description

How might learning to think with our hands, rehearsing ideas with touch and activating our embodied mind offer methods for navigating critical times with care? In this playful workshop (feel-shop?…)we will explore a number of art practice-inspired methods for priming the body and ‘becoming tender’ in unyielding times. Over a gentle pre-lunch session we will explore {touch} as a method of recalibrating relations between inner and outer worlds; practice bodily {re- attunement}; materialise {dialogues} with the more-than-human and activate our {sensing} bodies.

About Becky

Becky Lyon is an English x Jamaican artist and “artecologist” exploring how art practice can illuminate and re-enchant relationships to our animate and inter-relational ecology. Her work takes multiple forms including installation, ritual, participatory projects, image-making and sensory artefacts. Her practice is highly participatory believing powerful knowledge emerges when we think-feel-walk-do together. She hosts the Squishy Sessions exploring tactility x making x care; convenes monthly Bioart Coven gatherings and hosts EARTHSHAPES, an event series following the seasonal year of the British Isles. She is a ranger for London National Park City and guides artist-led walks in urban ecologies. She has an MA Art & Science from Central Saint Martins and is currently studying MA Art & Ecology at Goldsmiths University where she is re- bodying with London’s ancient woodlands. https://www.elasticfiction.co/
